Security Alert: Philippines Typhoon, Relief Scams
After a natural disaster, such as the Philippines Typhoon, phishing emails, websites, ads, and other media about the tragedy inevitably begin to appear. These are often created by scammers to grab your attention and compel you to “click” or “donate.” Unfortunately, this means each time a natural disaster takes place, millions of dollars raised in relief efforts end up in the pockets of criminals.

Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) at Cornell
The latest Mac operating system, OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) appears to be compatible with many supported services at Cornell, though some vendors have not yet announced Mavericks support for some of their products, for example IBM’s TSM, which is used for EZ-Backup. Mac users interested in upgrading will want to carefully consider the timing of doing so and work within any parameters set by their unit or technical support provider.
