Executive Technology Support helps President Skorton “Virtually Chair” California meetings
Read how David Kuo, a member of CIT’s Executive Technology Support team, worked with President Skorton and his IT peers at UC Santa Barbara to arrange for Skorton to chair 14 accreditation meetings via video conference. “I took my responsibilities as chair of the accreditation committee very seriously, but my schedule this semester was such that I simply could not commit two full days for travel to and from the West Coast to chair the meetings in person,” Skorton said. “I knew we were breaking new ground with our ‘virtual’ meetings, but we accomplished our goals and also enjoyed a sense of being technology pioneers.”

Pre-September 2013 Individual IT Service Billing Statements to be Available On Demand
In August, an upgraded version of Pinnacle, the system for running IT service report statements, was introduced. The old version of the system, which is how pre-September 2013 individual statements are currently accessed, will be shut down around the end of January 2014. After it is shut down, the statements may be obtained on demand through the IT Service Desk. In other Pinnacle news, there is a new address for opting out of the monthly notification that an individual statement is ready.

Campus Photo Suddenly “Awesomed”
Academic Technologies is always on the lookout for new technologies to investigate and evaluate. But sometimes you don’t need to hunt for new things–they find you. This was the case when Academic Technologies’ Barbara Friedman uploaded some wintry photos to her Google+ account. She received a notification that one, an image of snow falling near the Big Red Barn, had been, in Google’s terminology, “Auto Awesomed” with an effect Google rolled out this holiday season. The photo had gained an overlay of animated snowflakes drifting down. For a few weeks only, you can see it at:
