Software: Renewals and changes in support

ChemDraw

• Renew now, by the August expiration:
  • http://it.chem.cornell.edu/chemdraw/
• A new version was released mid-May, and you are not required to upgrade.
• CambridgeSoft has dropped support for older operating systems in their new version.
  • Example: The newest version requires MacOS X 10.9 or newer or Windows 7 or newer.

MATLAB, Mathematica, and LabView

• Look for email from ChemIT in the next month for renewal notices.

IT service changes and reminders

Wireless service

• Use eduroam. No longer use “RedRover”.

The eduroam service also works for many academic visitors here, and for you when you travel.

A new Cornell wireless “Guest” service has recently been added, and this single-day access service is easy to get on to.

• • Service is useful if you host visitors and friends for temporary periods who cannot use eduroam.

Research web sites using CU Blogs

New fee announced by CIT. Also, drastic look-and-feel changes to occur to some blogs.

• ChemIT is working with the intent to reduce the impact on Chemistry’s current 12 research group web sites, as well as future sites.
